Who am I?

Primarily, I'm a science nerd. But I'm also a graduate student, part-time tutor, casual script kiddie, wikipedian, cryptographic time waster, wilderness backpacker, and, recently, naive New Yorker.

Researcher

Since the summer of 2009, I've been in one lab or another. My formal undergraduate education at the University of Chicago was in abstract immunobiology, but my graduate interests are more applied. I'd like to uncover a quantitative picture of how the immune system responds to vaccination.

If you'd like more information, check out my research page or my CV.

Part-time tutoR

After serving as TA for four years and a tutor for two, I've started to realize how much I enjoy teaching. It's one of the major reasons I chose graduate school over the biotech industry: I think educating future scientists/physicians should be the most important function of a tenured professor. And yet the job has almost zero teaching qualifications! But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try, right?

The thrill of explaining complex subjects and the light in each student's eyes when they finally grasp it are what make it all worth it.

At the moment, I'm operating as a freelance tutor serving the New York City metropolitan area for college essays, college prep, the ACT, and the SAT, with a special focus on Biology, Chemistry, and Physics subject tests. I also have experience with the GRE and the MCAT. If you'd like more information, just send me an email or check out my tutoring resume!
